Last updated: October 1, 2026

Supporting Kids Foundation (“SKF,” “we,” “us” or “our”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity serving families facing pediatric cancer. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect information when you visit supportingkids.org (the “Site”) or otherwise interact with us. By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact information, such as your name, email address, mailing address and phone number, when you contact us, subscribe to updates, volunteer, register for or sponsor an event, or sign in to an account.
  • Scholarship applications, including your name, contact details, date of birth, education history, the year of diagnosis or treatment, and the other answers and materials you choose to submit.
  • Family stories, including the text, photos and video that a parent or guardian chooses to share, which may include health-related details about a child.
  • Board member and sponsor profiles, including names, biographies, logos, images and links submitted for display on the Site.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and the dates and times of your visits. This information is collected using cookies and similar technologies, described below.

Information from third parties

If you donate, the third-party platform that processes the donation shares information with us such as your name, contact details and the amount and date of your gift. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. If you sign in using a third-party account such as Google, that provider shares basic profile information with us, such as your name and email address.

2. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • operate, maintain and improve the Site and our programs;
  • process and acknowledge donations and provide tax receipts;
  • review scholarship applications and requests for assistance;
  • review and, with consent, publish family stories;
  • manage events, sponsorships and volunteers;
  • send you updates you have asked for and respond to your questions and requests;
  • understand how the Site is used;
  • protect the security of the Site and prevent fraud or misuse; and
  • comply with our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

3. How we share information

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to any other organization. We share personal information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use trusted vendors to help us run the Site and our programs, for example website hosting and data storage, email delivery, donation processing, forms and analytics. These vendors may access personal information only as needed to perform services for us.
  • With your consent or at your direction. For example, a family story is published on the Site and our social media only after the parent or guardian who submitted it has agreed to publication.
  • Legal reasons. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is required by law or legal process, or is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of SKF, the people we serve, or others.
  • Organizational changes. If SKF merges with or transfers its operations to another charitable organization, information may be transferred as part of that change.

4. Donor privacy

We respect the privacy of our donors. We will not sell, rent, trade or share a donor's personal information with any other organization for its own fundraising or marketing purposes, and we will not send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations. This applies to all donor information, whether received online or offline. We may publicly recognize donors and sponsors by name; if you would prefer that your gift remain anonymous, please let us know.

5. Cookies, analytics and similar technologies

The Site uses cookies and your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your work in progress. We also use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the Site. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as your IP address and the pages you visit. You can learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and can opt out by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. If you do, some parts of the Site, such as signing in, may not work properly. The Site does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals.

6. Writing assistance features

Some parts of the Site offer optional tools that help you edit text you have written, for example when preparing a family story or a sponsor profile. These tools are powered by a third-party artificial intelligence service provided through our cloud hosting provider. If you choose to use one, the text you submit to it is sent to that service for processing. Using these tools is always optional.

7. Family stories and information about children

Stories about the families we serve are shared by a parent or legal guardian and are reviewed by a member of our board before they are published. Nothing is published without the consent of the person who submitted it. If you shared a story and would like it changed or taken down, contact us and we will do so.

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Third-party sites and services

The Site links to websites and services we do not operate, including our donation platform, sign-up forms, event registration pages and social media. Information you provide on those sites is governed by their own privacy policies and terms, not this one. We encourage you to review them.

9. How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no website, transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations, and then delete or de-identify it.

11. Your choices

  • Email. You can unsubscribe from our updates at any time by following the instructions in the message or by contacting us.
  • Access, correction and deletion. You may ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us. We will respond to reasonable requests, subject to information we are required or permitted by law to keep.

12. Visitors from outside the United States

SKF is based in the United States, and the Site is operated in and intended for residents of the United States. If you use the Site from another country, your information will be transferred to, stored and processed in the United States.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
